When Simpler Tools Make Life More Complicated

Why some creators and businesses are switching from LeadPages to WordPress for their landing pages
Does this sound familiar?
You launched one landing page for a freebie. Then another for a seasonal opt-in. Maybe one for a waitlist. A few more for a product launch or challenge. Now it’s months (or years) later… and you’ve got a mix of LeadPages, email automations, Google Sheets, and forms that no one quite remembers setting up, but you’re too scared to delete just in case.
You’re not alone. We’ve recently helped several clients who felt the same way and decided it was time to simplify.
They moved their landing pages back into WordPress, and almost immediately, things felt calmer.
(If you’re wondering what a landing page is, it’s a page that is usually used for ads, marketing campaigns, or special offers. It often looks quite different from the rest of your site — no main menu, no distractions — just a single, focused page designed to get people to sign up, buy, or take one specific action.)
LeadPages promises momentum and sometimes delivers mess.
There’s a lot of energy baked into LeadPages: fast templates, phrases like “high-converting,” and tools designed to get more leads. And that can be motivating, especially in the early stages.
But for many creators and small teams, it doesn’t stay simple for long. One page turns into ten. The setup becomes hard to explain. And suddenly you’re relying on a whole stack of tools, each doing one part of the job, with no clear map of how it all fits together.
And if you’ve never written it all down (totally normal), team members or assistants often struggle to update or troubleshoot anything.
So why switch to WordPress for your landing pages?
WordPress might not sound as exciting, but it’s surprisingly powerful, and for many of our clients, it’s actually easier in the long run.
With a WordPress landing page, you can:
- Keep everything on your domain (which can help with SEO)
- Use your site’s existing fonts, buttons, and styles automatically
- Hide your menu and footer for a clean, focused look
- Connect to tools like ConvertKit or Mailchimp
- Make updates right from your WordPress dashboard
- Avoid one more tool (and monthly subscription)
And no, switching doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We help clients through this all the time. It’s usually straightforward, especially when the goal is clarity and simplicity rather than recreating every page exactly as-is.
You might be ready to simplify if…
- You’re not sure what half your landing pages are connected to
- You’re hesitant to update anything in case it breaks something else
- A team member recently asked, “Wait, how does this all work again?”
- You’re juggling LeadPages, ConvertKit, Zapier, and more just to collect an email address
- You’ve outgrown the “just get it out there” phase and want a more sustainable system
But doesn’t WordPress limit your design options?
Not the way we build it.
We do limit some things on purpose, but that’s intentional. It’s about creating brand cohesion, so your pages always feel consistent and professional without needing to make design decisions from scratch every time.
We avoid pagebuilder tools like Elementor (a WordPress plugin that gives full visual control) because they often come at the cost of performance and consistency. Pages built with Elementor or similar tools can load slowly, look slightly off-brand, and be tricky to maintain.
Instead, we build lightweight, custom themes using flexible, reusable content blocks. You can still create beautiful pages, just without the bloated code or styling headaches. And everything is set up to match your brand by default.
If you like to tinker with layouts and build pages yourself, we can create a library of styles for you to reuse. Or if you’d rather hand it off and not add a new task to your plate, we can take care of it for you. Either way, the system is built to support you.
Is your current setup working for you, or is it getting in your way?
