Learning by Doing: A Food Blog Experiment

For years, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible food bloggers—people who pour their hearts into their recipes, stories, and communities. I’ve watched them turn their passions into thriving businesses, navigate challenges, and adapt to a constantly changing online world.
It’s inspiring—and it’s made me want to step even further into their (your!) shoes.
For over 20 years, my husband and I have spent Friday nights making pizza for friends, family, and whoever else shows up at our door. What started as a simple meal in 2003 has become a weekly ritual—one of the best parts of our week.
And now, I’m bringing that tradition online.
I’ve spent years building and optimizing food blogs, but I’ve never actually run one myself… until now. This isn’t about shifting focus—it’s about gaining firsthand experience so I can design food blogs that work even better. By going through the process myself, I can test ideas in real time and share insights that help you grow, streamline, and improve your own sites.
It’s early days, and I’m figuring things out as I go. But this isn’t just about food. It’s about connection—small, meaningful ways we show up for each other. As Kai Brach put it:
“Maybe what we need isn’t another round of self-reflection, but a quiet revolution of small, meaningful actions… These moments might seem small, but they remind us of something vital: our individual flourishing is inextricably linked to the wellbeing of those around us.”
That’s the heart of Friday’s Pizza—a space where food is just the beginning. I’d love to share the story behind it with you—read it here.
And if you’d like to check out the site (just know it’s still a work in progress!), here’s the link: fridayspizza.com
Got something you’ve been wondering about—design tweaks, growth strategies, or an experiment you’d love to see play out? Let me know. I’m happy to be the guinea pig!
